Topic 4 - A good neighbor - Bui Nhung

Neighbors play an key role in making our life more interesting and easier. Taking a look at what are the characteristic of a good neighbor, I really want to have a accountable, sympathetic and open-minded one.

Firstly, a good neighbor is the person who is willing to help us when we meet troubles. In our daily life, facing emergency situations and the need of help sometimes happen. At that time, without the help of our neighbors, that may lead to bad results. For example, when a big fire flame appears in our house but we are not at home. Our neighbor will call firefighters and inform us immediately to get the fire under control. Furthermore, if we get stuck working overtime, or have to go but can not bring our children, a good neighbor could give us quick help by keeping and caring our kids. In an another situation, our car is out of order. However, we need to travel right away, our neighbors may give us a pick or lend us their car.

Next, a good neighbor is the person who should show their compassion in some certain cases. Obviously, sometimes, we or our relatives annoy our neighbors. Or there are few bad situations happening without our control. In these case, nice neighbors are ones who strongly sympathize with us. For instance, in the late afternoon, our kids play some games in our yard making noise while they are relaxing. That could bother them. That our bottles or clothes may be blown to neighbors’ yards is unprecedented. Our relationship between us and our neighbors will always be in harmony when we receive the compassion of them and vice versus.

Last but not least, a good neighbor should be open-minded to get the complaint form his or her neighbor. Occasionally, they make other families living around them angry or confused. At that time, we can sent them either our feelings, some pieces of advice or our complaints. If they are good listeners, such uncertain situations will be stopped and never happen again. For example, they build a fence, or plant a big tree near our house without asking our opinions. More seriously, loud sound is often be sent out from our neighbor’s house at night. Sometimes, our neighbors is lazy to participate in cleaning streets and pavements in front of their houses that could effect the whole sanitation and scene of the area.

All in all, living with a good neighbor who is willing to help others, sympathize with us and carefully listen to our advice will facilitate our daily life. Besides the effort of our neighbors, we also should practice these characteristics that is the most effective way to have a nice neighbor.
