Topic 3 - change one important thing

Public library system has an important role in developing knowledge and social awareness of residents. However, in my hometown, the vital role of public library is not taken into account by the authority. As a result, it is so old, small. Books are not up-to-date and borrowing services are too poor. More terribly, readers have to charge for this service. In my point of view, people need a modern, convenient and free library. If I have a chance to change it, I will do everything to bring local residents such a one.

First of all, a modern library with computers connected to the Internet may provide with the best condition to meet the increasing requirements of visitors. Computers with an e-checking software help them find out books faster and more exact. Furthermore, that library would create favorable conditions to everybody to access to the Internet equally. In a fast-changing world, people need to know what happening, make a wide networking, and get knowledge most quickly and cheapest. All these kinds of need could be supplied by access to the Net.

Secondly, a convenient library with large space, updated books, journals and newspapers, and a reasonable place... would generate beneficial conditions to readers. The fact in my hometown shows that the faster the population is expanding, the higher the need to use the services in public library is. So, it is fabulous to rebuild a new one which is more spacious and could contains 1000 persons at a time. The new library also need to be allocated in the center of the town that is easy for readers to travel. On the other hand, in order to satisfy the need of readers best, the reading materials should be various and updated. Indeed, every readers from children to senior citizens can read what they want when visiting the library. That would contribute to build up a reading habit in society, which is gradually disappearing, especially in young generations.

Finally, a free library is essential to set up a civilized and equal society. In present, some services in my hometown’s library like: borrowing books, CDs or accessing to precious materials... cost money of borrowers. That has been limiting the opportunities of the poor to get knowledge, and also causes the inequality in the society. All these services should be free of charge. If so, all residents have the same chance to learn and read. Knowledge and awareness of the poor will be improved; therefore, there are more chances for them to get a job and increase their income. As a result, in my birthplace, the amount of criminals may be reduced, the society may be more and more stable and civilized.

All in all, the intellectual level of population is one of the pivotal key to develop a society. Building a modern, convenient and free library for residents would help that level increase.
