Topic 2 - building a large factory

Constructing a factory has drawbacks as well as benefits. To a countryside like my community, building a industrial unit could not be a best way to develop infrastructure and improve living standards. Personally, I cast doubt on the benefits of constructing a factory.

First and foremost, a big plant could cause air pollution. As we know, gas or smoke which emitted form a factory, particularly a chemical one will affect my local resident’s health. Although modern technology can reduce the level of emission or its danger. However, in a new developing country like Vietnam, preventing air pollution is not taken into the authority’s consideration, so I really concern the quality of air system. On the other hand, noise which given off by machines, engines of buses carrying workers... would make my village become too noisy and result in mental depression for my local persons. Now my community is a quite place, but such atmosphere would be destroys.

Secondly, workers of a new factory could change stability of society in my community. The larger a plant are, the more employees are hired. As a result, a steam of immigrants form surrounding areas would bring their own habits to my community including social evils. Furthermore, more motels or entertainment clubs would be built to serve these people. They could increase income of local resident, but they also create new social issues like overnight entertainment activity, abusing some kinds of games. That these changes happen too fast may be cultural shocks to a peaceful place like my village. They may spoil the temper of some people, especially the young children.

Finally, it should be admitted that a large factory could be a huge employer, but its risk may overweight its benefits. I strongly agree that having a job is the initial condition to improve living standards and quality of infrastructure. Nevertheless, we can assure that this employer give these job opportunities to local people. They hire the most suitable worker to their requirements. It means that job chances are equal to all people from all areas and local residents could find jobs in other communities. In my countryside, a big factory will occupy, in addition, a large size of farm land. That will badly influence on our harvest and cultivating.

To some extent, in my point of view, the consequence of constructing a plant is much danger than its benefits like air pollution, social problems, reducing farm land... Moreover, it is very scientific and easy to manage the operation of some relating factories when we put in the same area far from residential one.
